This bill establishes the hunger-free campus grant program, which provides grants to higher education institutions in Tennessee to address student hunger on their campuses. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission will administer the program, which is funded through specific appropriations and donations. To be eligible for a grant, institutions must have or establish a physical food pantry or partner with a community food pantry, and create a hunger task force with student representation. Grant funds must be used to develop student meal credit donation programs, allocate funding for meal voucher programs, provide financial assistance to food pantries, and raise awareness of food insecurity resources.
