This bill revises certain requirements concerning eligibility for reimbursement from the "Emergency Medical Technician Training Fund." The key provisions are: 1) Any private agency, organization, or entity that provides training and testing to volunteer emergency medical technicians (EMTs) is eligible for reimbursement from the fund, regardless of whether the ambulance, first aid, or rescue squad employing the volunteer EMT receives any payment for providing emergency medical services; 2) The head of the ambulance, first aid, or rescue squad must determine if the EMT is a volunteer in good standing, and if not, the EMT may be required to reimburse the fund for their training costs, except for those attending a public or private institution of higher education; and 3) The Commissioner of Health is required to adopt rules and regulations to implement the provisions of the bill, which takes effect on the first day of the seventh month after the date of enactment.
