This bill adds doula services performed by a person with a verification of certification to the list of services that may be provided as medical assistance under the TennCare program, Tennessee's Medicaid program. It also directs the Department of Health to establish a process for the verification of certification for individuals who have completed a doula training program that meets certain requirements, such as understanding basic anatomy and physiology related to pregnancy and the childbearing process, and having the capacity to provide emotional support, education, and resources during the perinatal period.
