This resolution officially designates the second Friday in December of each year as "PSRPs in Our Schools Day" in New Jersey to recognize and honor paraprofessionals and school-related personnel (PSRPs). PSRPs include a wide range of educational support staff such as instructional and non-instructional aides, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodial staff, and maintenance personnel who provide critical services in schools. These services include tutoring students, assisting with classroom management, translating, supervising students, preparing meals, maintaining school facilities, and transporting students. The resolution acknowledges that PSRPs play an essential role in facilitating communication between students, teachers, and parents, and enables educators to enhance classroom and school effectiveness. By establishing this special day, the New Jersey Legislature aims to recognize and commend these often-unheralded professionals for their tireless and dedicated work that empowers students to achieve greater success in their studies and development. The resolution calls upon New Jersey citizens to participate appropriately in observing "PSRPs in Our Schools Day" and takes effect immediately upon passage.
