This bill amends Tennessee's education code to require each local school board to establish programs that provide free school lunches and free school breakfasts to all students, regardless of their income eligibility. The state is required to reimburse each local education agency (LEA) for the cost of providing these free meals after all available private funding and federal funds have been applied. The bill also makes changes to the existing school nutrition program rules, such as removing the requirement to encourage participation in the breakfast program and removing certain provisions related to the community eligibility provision under the National School Lunch Program.
