This bill establishes the Algorithmic Addiction Fund, which will receive all revenue received by the state from judgments or settlements with technology and social media companies related to claims made by the state for violations of state law. The Maryland Department of Health will administer the fund, which can be used for conducting needs assessments, improving access to algorithmic addiction treatment, providing intervention and prevention services, funding research and training, and supporting other evidence-based interventions. The Secretary of Health is required to develop goals, objectives, and performance indicators for algorithmic addiction treatment and prevention efforts, and to consult with stakeholders and report annually to the General Assembly on the fund's expenditures and progress.
