This bill requires a law enforcement agency that receives a report of a prohibited person failing a background check to immediately notify the victim if the prohibited person failed the check due to a final protective order or violating a protective order. The bill also requires the Secretary of State Police to notify the Maryland State Police Gun Center if a firearm application is disapproved because the prospective purchaser, lessee, or transferee failed a background check. The bill further requires the Gun Center to notify local law enforcement agencies within 24 hours of a background check denial, including the reason for the denial and the identity of the person denied.
