This bill requires health plans in Minnesota to cover all over-the-counter contraceptives approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) without any cost-sharing or limitations. Over-the-counter contraceptive is defined as a contraceptive that can be purchased in Minnesota without a prescription from a licensed healthcare professional and has been approved as a nonprescription drug by the FDA. The bill provides an exception for the year in which a new over-the-counter contraceptive is approved by the FDA. The provisions of this bill will take effect on January 1, 2025, and apply to all policies, plans, certificates, and contracts offered, issued, or renewed on or after that date.
