This bill, the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act of 2024, amends the Public Health Service Act to authorize the Secretary of Health and Human Services to carry out a program of research, training, and investigation related to Down syndrome. The key provisions of the bill include establishing the "INvestigation of Cooccurring conditions across the Lifespan to Understand Down syndromE Project" (INCLUDE Project) to conduct research on various aspects of Down syndrome, such as basic science studies, building a large study population, expanding clinical trials, identifying biological mechanisms and biomarkers, and improving the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The bill also requires coordination of Down syndrome research across the National Institutes of Health and prioritizes non-duplicative research. The bill authorizes $90 million in funding for each of the fiscal years 2025 through 2029 to carry out these activities.
