This bill: 1. Allows for filing extensions and alternate medical documentation in the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS), the State Police Retirement System (SPRS), or the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) for accidental disability retirement in certain circumstances related to participation in World Trade Center rescue, recovery, or cleanup operations. 2. Extends the accidental death benefit for survivors of certain SPRS retirees who participated in World Trade Center operations, regardless of whether the retiree died before or after a certain date. 3. Permits survivors of SPRS members or retirees who participated in World Trade Center operations to apply for accidental death benefits if the member or retiree would have qualified for accidental disability retirement due to a condition caused by their participation. The bill provides guidelines and timelines for eligibility, application, and documentation requirements related to these provisions for members, retirees, and their survivors in the PFRS, SPRS, and PERS.
