This bill prohibits state and local government entities in Washington from adopting or enforcing "sanctuary policies" that restrict cooperation with federal immigration authorities. It requires law enforcement agencies to use their best efforts to support federal immigration law enforcement, including complying with immigration detainers and notifying federal agencies about the release of inmates subject to such detainers. The bill also provides for the reimbursement of costs incurred by county correctional facilities for housing individuals subject to immigration detainers, and establishes enforcement mechanisms, including authorizing the state Attorney General to take action against violators.
