This bill aims to support community college student success through the establishment of the "Supporting Urgent Community College Equity through Student Services" (SUCCESS) program. The SUCCESS program will provide grants to community colleges to offer wraparound support services, such as peer mentoring, academic skills workshops, transfer advising, and assistance in obtaining federal, state, and local benefits. These grants are intended to improve outcomes for vulnerable student populations, including low-income, first-generation, minority, disabled, and LGBTQ+ students. The Department of Higher Education will be responsible for developing the grant application and disbursement system, as well as an accountability mechanism. The Department will also report annually on the success of the program and the distribution of funds to campuses.
