AN ACT to amend the retirement and social security law, in relation to the retirement of county 911 operators

This bill provides an optional twenty-five year retirement plan for county 911 operators throughout the state. Specifically, it allows county police communications operators, police communications operator supervisors, assistant bureau directors (police 911 communications), and bureau directors (police 911 communications) to retire with a pension equal to one-half of their final average salary after 25 years of service. The bill also allows members subject to the provisions of Article 14 to irrevocably elect to be covered under this new plan instead. All past service costs incurred from implementing this new plan will be borne by any county that elects to provide these benefits.
