This bill amends the Revised School Code to modify the recommended model core academic curriculum content standards and guidelines for health education. The key provisions include: 1. Requiring the Department of Education to ensure the recommended model core academic curriculum content standards and guidelines for health education provide instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for students in grades 7-12. This instruction must be based on programs developed by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines. 2. Requiring the content standards and guidelines to provide instruction on the use of first aid response kits containing specific items, such as tourniquets and bleeding control dressings, for students in grades 7-12. 3. Allowing school districts, public school academies, and nonpublic schools to use various local resources, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, police officers, and trained school staff, to provide the required instruction. 4. Exempting 100% online instruction programs from having to incorporate the psychomotor skills training for CPR.
