This bill, the Elevating Biotechnology Threats Reporting Act, requires certain elements of the intelligence community, including the Central Intelligence Agency, Defense Intelligence Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Security Agency, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence, to submit a report to the congressional intelligence committees by June 30, 2025. The report must describe any gaps in the intelligence community's ability to target, collect, and analyze intelligence related to biotechnology threats, as well as any existing mechanisms for the intelligence community to provide intelligence and support on biotechnology threats to federal agencies, foreign governments, and private industry and academic institutions. The report must also assess how the intelligence community consults with biotechnology and other experts on these issues.
