This bill amends Chapter 90 of the Massachusetts General Laws to allow municipal emergency management and public works vehicles to display flashing, rotating, or oscillating green lights. The bill prohibits the use of such green lights on any other vehicles, except for official police vehicles using red lights and fire apparatus using blue lights. The bill requires the emergency management or public works director to obtain a written permit from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles before installing green lights on their vehicles, and the Registrar can revoke the permit if the lights are used improperly. Violations of the law can result in a fine of $500 to $1,000.
