This bill aims to further regulate police reports involving railroad fatalities. It states that any police report involving a railroad fatality and all communications between police officers and railroad crew members shall not be made public and shall be maintained by the police department in a confidential manner. However, these reports shall be accessible, upon written request, to the host railroad, the railroad of employ of any employee mentioned in the report, and any other person authorized by judicial order. Additionally, law enforcement officers, district attorneys, and assistant district attorneys can access these reports upon written or electronic mail request. The bill also allows for communications between police officers and railroad employees concerning a railroad fatality incident to be shared with the individuals listed in the bill if such access is necessary to the performance of their duties. Any violation of this section shall be punishable by imprisonment for up to 1 year or a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
