This bill directs the Secretary of Defense to conduct a study and submit a report to Congress on strategic ports. The study will examine China's efforts to expand its control over strategic ports outside of China, the potential harm to U.S. national security and economic interests, and measures the U.S. government could take to ensure open access and security for these ports. The report will include detailed lists of strategic ports operated by China and the U.S., assessments of vulnerabilities and China's expansion plans, and a suggested strategy to secure trusted investment and ownership of strategic ports and maritime infrastructure to protect them from Chinese control.
