This bill, the Renewed Hope Act of 2024, aims to provide for the hiring and training of certain personnel at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to support the identification and rescue of victims of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Specifically, it requires the Secretary of DHS to hire and train 40 forensics analysts, 30 child exploitation investigators, and 130 additional forensics analysts and child exploitation investigators. The bill also allows the Secretary to temporarily employ experts and consultants to provide image and audio forensic analysis to aid in victim identification. Additionally, the bill establishes procedures to deconflict, coordinate, and synchronize child sexual exploitation investigations within DHS and requires the Secretary to create a Victim Identification Training Program to provide training on new and advanced technology used to identify victims to DHS personnel and other law enforcement agencies.
