This bill, the Protecting Children with Food Allergies Act, amends the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 to require the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop and publish training modules and educational materials on food allergy prevention, identification, and response for local food service personnel. The bill mandates that these personnel complete the training and receive a certification to demonstrate their competence. Additionally, the bill authorizes the USDA to make this training available to personnel under other child nutrition programs, such as the special milk program, summer food service program, and child and adult care food program. Finally, the bill requires the USDA to submit and publish nutrition education materials related to food allergies for use in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
