This bill amends the Bullard-Plawecki Employee Right to Know Act to update references to the Law Enforcement Officer Separation of Service Records Act. Specifically, it allows employers to release information from a personnel record regarding the reasons for and circumstances surrounding a law enforcement officer's separation of service, as well as information from a provisional service record created under the Law Enforcement Officer Records Act. The bill also requires the employer to release information from a separate confidential investigative file to the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards upon request. This amendment does not take effect unless Senate Bill No. 1097 is also enacted into law.
