This bill extends the statutory pause on collecting student growth objective (SGO) data for teachers, principals, assistant principals, and vice-principals in New Jersey. Specifically, the bill continues the moratorium on collecting new SGO data during the 2024-2025 school year and each subsequent school year until N.J.A.C.6A:10 (the administrative code governing educator evaluations) is expired and readopted. During this period, educators will use existing SGO data from the most recent year for evaluations, with exceptions for first-year employees, those without previous SGO records, and non-tenured staff who will still be required to set and collect SGO data. The bill also provides an option for educators unsatisfied with their previous evaluation to complete new SGOs for one year, with those scores applied to their evaluation. Additionally, the legislation includes special provisions for educators approaching tenure, exempting those eligible to attain tenure before February 15 from setting new SGOs and allowing those eligible after February 15 to complete new objectives. The bill is part of ongoing efforts to review and potentially reform the state's educator evaluation system, as recommended by the New Jersey Educator Evaluation Review Task Force.
