This bill extends the existing pause on collecting student growth objective (SGO) data for educators in New Jersey, specifically for teachers, principals, assistant principals, and vice-principals. The legislation continues the moratorium on gathering new SGO data for the 2024-2025 school year and subsequent years until the next expiration and readoption of administrative code N.J.A.C.6A:10. During this period, schools will use existing SGO data from the most recent year for evaluation purposes. First-year employees or those without pre-existing SGO data will still be required to set and collect objectives. The bill allows educators to voluntarily complete new SGOs for one year, with those scores applying to their evaluations until the next regulatory readoption. Additionally, the bill provides special provisions for educators approaching tenure, exempting those eligible to attain tenure before February 15 from setting new objectives and allowing those becoming tenured after February 15 to complete SGOs. This legislation aims to provide flexibility in educator evaluation processes while the state reviews and potentially revises its evaluation guidelines through the New Jersey Educator Evaluation Review Task Force.
