This bill modifies the Oklahoma Boating Safety Regulation Act by adding two key provisions and updating some existing language. First, the bill adds a new definition for a "wide-angle convex rearview mirror" as a mirror at least four inches in size that is firmly mounted to provide the vessel operator a full view behind the vessel. Second, the bill introduces a new requirement for vessels where a person has entered the water between sunrise and sunset: the vessel must display a red or orange flag that is at least twelve inches square and visible from all directions. Operators are also prohibited from traveling faster than a slow or no-wake speed within 50 yards of a vessel displaying such a flag. The bill also makes minor technical corrections to existing language about vessel operations, such as standardizing hyphenation in terms like "wide-angle" and "rearview". Additionally, the bill updates sections related to towing vessels, mirrors, and safety requirements for personal watercraft. The changes aim to enhance boating safety by improving visibility and signaling when people are in the water near a vessel. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2025.
