This bill directs the New York State Department of Labor to create a voluntary Neurodiversity Training Pledge program for employers, designed to promote workplace inclusivity for neurodivergent individuals. The program will involve developing an online training curriculum in consultation with various state agencies and disability-focused organizations. The training will cover critical topics such as workplace sensitivity toward neurological conditions like autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and dyslexia; recognizing the benefits of a neurodiverse workforce; creating inclusive interview processes; recommending workplace accommodations and accessibility measures; providing guidance on website accessibility; and offering corporate partnership training. Employers who complete the training will receive a certification, with the goal of encouraging more supportive and innovative work environments that understand and value neurodivergent employees' unique strengths. The bill will take effect 90 days after becoming law, giving the Department of Labor time to develop and implement the training program.
