This Joint Memorial respectfully requests that the Washington State Transportation Commission initiate the process to extend the designation of "Martin Luther King, Jr. Way" along specific state routes as a lasting tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The memorial highlights Dr. King's crucial role in the Civil Rights Movement, his advocacy for justice and equality, and his lasting impact on civil liberties. Specifically, it asks for the naming to be extended along State Route 900 from the western edge of Renton to near milepost 10, and also along the entirety of State Route 515 between its connections with Interstate 405 and State Route 516. Copies of this memorial will be sent to the Washington State Transportation Commission, the Secretary of the Washington State Department of Transportation, and the department itself.
