This bill extends the time period for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) contractors to restore an expired license from 90 days to 4 years. Under the current law, contractors had a very limited window to renew their license after expiration, but this bill provides a much longer period during which licensed professionals can restore their credentials. Specifically, if an HVACR contractor applies for license restoration within 4 years after the license expires, they can be reinstated by paying the required renewal or reinstatement fee. If they do not apply within the 4-year window, the State Board of Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors may require the individual to go through the initial licensing application process as if they had never been licensed before. The bill is set to take effect on October 1, 2025, and will provide more flexibility for licensed HVACR professionals who might miss the current short renewal window.
