This bill extends the sunset date for the State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026. The bill maintains the existing structure of the Board, which consists of 11 members appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate: four licensed professional counselors, three licensed family and marital therapists, two licensed behavioral practitioners, and two public representatives. The Board will continue to have responsibilities including establishing licensure and certification systems, adopting professional conduct standards, and overseeing professional counseling, marital and family therapy, and behavioral practitioner licensing. Members serve three-year terms, meet up to four times annually, and serve without compensation but can be reimbursed for expenses. The Board is authorized to hire an Executive Director, maintain an office, investigate complaints, and perform other administrative functions related to behavioral health licensure. This extension ensures the continued operation and regulatory oversight of behavioral health professionals in Oklahoma for an additional year.
