This bill extends the sunset date for the State Board of Licensed Social Workers from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026. The sunset provision means that the board will automatically terminate on that date unless re-created by legislation. The bill maintains the current board structure, which consists of seven members: three licensed social workers or clinical social workers, two licensed social work associates or master's social workers, one representative from the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, and one public member. The bill preserves the existing requirements for board members, including residency, licensing status, and professional experience. For social worker members, this includes being a state resident, being licensed in good standing, having been actively engaged in social work practice for at least one year out of the previous five years, and having at least three years of professional experience. The public member must be a resident over the age of majority who has no direct connection to social work licensing or practice. The State Board of Social Work retains its existing responsibilities for enforcing the Social Worker's Licensing Act and maintaining its previously granted duties and powers.
