This bill extends the sunset date for the Long-Term Care Facility Advisory Council from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026. The Advisory Council is a thirteen-member group appointed by the Governor to provide advice to the State Commissioner of Health on long-term care facilities. The council includes representatives from various state agencies (such as the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and Department of Human Services), healthcare professionals (like a licensed doctor, pharmacist, and nurse), operators of different types of care facilities (nursing homes, residential care homes, adult day care facilities, and assisted living centers), and three public members over the age of 65. The council's primary responsibilities include advising the Department of Health on services and care for residents in long-term care facilities, reviewing the quality of services provided, and evaluating standards and practices related to nursing homes, residential care homes, and adult day care facilities. Members serve two-year terms, can be reappointed up to two terms, and are reimbursed for travel expenses. The State Department of Health provides administrative support and meeting space for the council, which meets at least quarterly and elects its own leadership annually.
