This bill allows corporations already lawfully practicing engineering or land surveying in New York to also practice professional geology, provided their corporate purposes include it and they meet specific requirements. Specifically, existing business corporations that have been practicing engineering or land surveying since before April 15, 1935, can amend their corporate documents to include professional geology, as long as at least one director or officer is a licensed professional geologist. This amendment process must be completed before December 31, 2029, and these corporations will then be subject to all laws and regulations governing professional geology. Additionally, the bill updates the definition of a "certificate of authorization," which is a document allowing entities to provide professional services, to include professional geology alongside professional engineering and land surveying.
