Bill Summary
AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to the practice of professional geology
AI Summary
This bill allows corporations already lawfully practicing engineering or land surveying in New York to also practice professional geology, provided their corporate purposes include it and they meet specific requirements. Specifically, existing business corporations that have been practicing engineering or land surveying since before April 15, 1935, can amend their corporate documents to include professional geology, as long as at least one director or officer is a licensed professional geologist. This amendment process is permitted until December 31, 2029, and these corporations must then comply with all laws and regulations related to professional geology. Additionally, the bill updates existing provisions to include "professional geology" alongside professional engineering and land surveying when referring to services requiring a certificate of authorization, which is a document issued by the department authorizing such services for a three-year period.
