This bill modifies the composition and appointment process for the State Board of Education by changing how board members are selected and the terms of their service. Previously, all six non-superintendent board members were appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation, serving at the Governor's pleasure. Now, the board appointments will be divided among three appointing authorities: two members will be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, two by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and two by the Governor.
