AI Summary
This bill temporarily transfers the responsibilities for school accreditation from the State Board of Education to the Commission for Educational Quality and Accountability from the bill's effective date until March 31, 2027. Specifically, the bill moves the Accreditation Standards Division of the State Department of Education under the Commission's authority, while keeping the division's employees under the Department of Education. During this period, the Commission will be responsible for adopting school accreditation standards, investigating complaints, evaluating schools, and making accreditation determinations that were previously handled by the State Board of Education. The bill includes detailed provisions about how the Commission will handle these responsibilities, such as maintaining existing accreditation rules, investigating school compliance, and providing assistance to districts. After March 31, 2027, these responsibilities will transfer back to the State Board of Education. The bill aims to provide a structured transition of school accreditation duties while maintaining continuity in the state's educational oversight processes. The bill becomes effective on July 1, 2025, and includes an emergency clause to ensure immediate implementation.
