This bill establishes comprehensive requirements for workplace violence prevention in health care settings. Health care settings must conduct timely investigations of every workplace violence incident, reviewing details such as incident circumstances, response strategies, and staffing levels. Additionally, settings must submit detailed summaries of these investigations to their safety committees at least twice or quarterly per year, depending on the type of facility. The plan must be reviewed and updated annually, and settings are required to consider guidelines from various state and federal health and safety organizations. Smaller or specialized hospitals (such as critical access or sole community hospitals) have slightly different reporting requirements. The bill aims to systematically address and reduce workplace violence in health care environments, with provisions to track, analyze, and prevent future incidents. The legislation will take effect on January 1, 2026, and will become null and void if specific funding is not allocated by June 30, 2025.
