This bill amends Oklahoma's laws regarding charitable alcoholic beverage licenses by updating references to nonprofit organizations and expanding licensing provisions for higher education institutions. Specifically, the bill modifies the types of tax-exempt organizations (under sections 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(5), etc. of the Internal Revenue Code) that can obtain charitable alcoholic beverage event and auction licenses. The legislation allows charitable organizations to conduct wine, spirit, and beer events for fundraising purposes, including tastings, dinners, and auctions that can be live or silent. While previously organizations were limited to eight event licenses and four auction licenses in a twelve-month period, the bill now exempts institutions of higher education from these restrictions, effectively allowing them to host more events. The licenses permit events lasting up to four days for beverage events and two days for auctions, with a maximum auction limit of 50 gallons of alcohol. The bill also clarifies that event attendees can access tastings and samples as part of their ticket price, and organizations can use licensed caterers to provide additional alcohol services during these events.
