Before providing such written instructions, the judge must allow the attorneys for both the prosecution and defense to review the instructions, give them an opportunity to be heard, mark the instructions as a court exhibit, and read the instructions aloud to the jury. This change aims to clarify legal standards and provide additional guidance to juries during their deliberative process. The bill is named the "Tiarah Poyau Act" and will go into effect 120 days after becoming law, giving courts and legal professionals time to prepare for the new procedure.
