This bill modifies the eligibility criteria for public charter schools to receive grants from the Student Investment Account (SIA), specifically focusing on virtual public charter schools. The bill defines an "eligible public charter school" as one that does not contract with a for-profit entity to provide educational management services and meets certain student demographic requirements. Under the new provisions, virtual public charter schools that do not use for-profit management services can now apply for SIA grants, whereas previously they were excluded.
