This bill amends Oklahoma's medical marijuana packaging regulations by requiring additional warning labels on medical marijuana containers. The new requirements mandate that labels must now include five specific warnings: "For use by licensed medical marijuana patients only", "Keep out of reach of children", "It is illegal to drive a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana or marijuana products", "Women should not use marijuana or marijuana products during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects", and "This product has been tested for contaminants". The bill also reinforces existing rules that packaging must minimize appeal to children, avoid cartoon characters or images targeting individuals under 21, and cannot include false or misleading statements. Dispensaries must use child-resistant containers and place medical marijuana products in an exit package when transferring to a licensed patient or caregiver. The Executive Director of the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority will develop detailed packaging and labeling standards, including requirements for potency information and product warnings. The bill is set to take effect on November 1, 2025, and aims to improve consumer safety and prevent accidental exposure or misuse of medical marijuana products.
