This bill amends the Oklahoma Floodplain Management Act to allow county and municipal floodplain board members to receive compensation, which was previously prohibited. Specifically, the bill permits county and municipal floodplain board members to receive up to $125 per meeting, with the exact amount to be determined by the board of county commissioners or municipal governing body. Board members may also be reimbursed for expenses incurred while performing their duties, in accordance with the State Travel Reimbursement Act. The bill maintains the existing structure of floodplain boards, which consist of five members appointed for staggered terms of two, four, and six years. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2025, providing clarity and potential financial support for local floodplain board members.
