This bill establishes the Barbara Weber Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Grant Program, which will be administered by the State Department of Health. The program will provide grants to support ALS research and assist Oklahoma residents affected by ALS, either as patients or caregivers. Starting July 1, 2026, the State Department of Health will be required to submit an annual report to key state officials detailing the number of grants awarded, recipient entities, and the specific purposes of the funding. The bill creates a dedicated revolving fund in the Oklahoma State Treasury, which will accept monies from appropriations, donations, grants, and other sources specifically designated for the ALS Grant Program. These funds will be continuously available, not limited by fiscal year constraints, and can be expended by the State Department of Health for program purposes. The act is set to become effective on July 1, 2025, and is declared an emergency measure, meaning it will take effect immediately upon passage and approval.
