This bill mandates that certain private businesses and public schools in Oklahoma post warning signs about human trafficking penalties starting November 1, 2025. Specifically, the bill requires warning signs to be displayed in cosmetology establishments, massage therapy businesses, body piercing and tattoo services, hospitals, and at public schools. These signs must be placed in conspicuous locations, such as near public entrances or along school property boundaries. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control will be responsible for developing rules about the signs' design, size, and placement. Each sign must be bilingual (in English and Spanish), at least 8.5 x 11 inches, and include a description of Section 748 of the Oklahoma Statutes, which outlines criminal penalties for human trafficking. The Bureau will provide these signs free of charge to the required businesses and schools, with the goal of raising awareness about human trafficking and its legal consequences. The act will take effect on November 1, 2025, giving businesses and schools time to prepare for the new signage requirement.
