This bill modifies the provisions governing the Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners in Oklahoma by primarily changing the appointment process for podiatric physician members. Currently, the Board requires that appointees be selected from a list of at least five persons submitted annually by the Oklahoma Podiatric Medical Association. The bill removes this strict requirement and instead allows the Governor more flexibility in selecting Board members by permitting consideration of recommendations from various sources, including statewide podiatric physician organizations, national organization state chapters, or other groups and individuals in the state. The bill maintains the Board's existing structure of five podiatric physicians and one lay member, with podiatric physician members still needing to meet specific qualifications such as being a legal resident of Oklahoma, having practiced in the state for three continuous years, and being in good standing with professional associations. The bill continues the Board's function of regulating podiatric medicine in Oklahoma and preserves the existing provisions for member terms, removal, and oath-taking. The bill will become effective on November 1, 2025, and extends the Board's existence until July 1, 2027, in accordance with the Oklahoma Sunset Law.
