This bill requires the Tennessee Board of Nursing to develop and administer an annual survey for nurse practitioners (NPs) with a certificate of fitness, collecting detailed information about their professional practice. Specifically, the survey will gather data on the NP's medical specialty, their collaborating physicians' specialties, practice locations, and the frequency of on-site physician collaboration. The board must send this survey electronically to NPs who have opted to receive email communications and send quarterly reminders to those who haven't completed it. By December 31st each year, the board must submit a report to the senate and house health committees containing aggregated, anonymous data about survey responses, including statistics on specialty matching between NPs and physicians, physician on-site presence, and other relevant collaborative practice information. The bill defines "specialty" for both nurse practitioners and physicians as an area of study leading to national certification or board certification, respectively. The act will take effect immediately upon becoming law, with the first survey to be developed within 90 days of the effective date.
