This bill requires the Tennessee Board of Nursing to develop and implement an annual survey for nurse practitioners (NPs) that collects detailed information about their professional practice and collaborative relationships with physicians. Specifically, the survey will gather data on the NP's medical specialty, their collaborating physicians' specialties, practice locations, and the frequency of on-site physician collaboration. The board must send the survey electronically to NPs who have opted to receive email communications and send quarterly reminders to those who haven't completed it. By December 31 each year, the board must submit a report to legislative health committees containing aggregated, anonymized data about survey responses, including statistics on NP-physician specialty alignment, physician on-site presence, and other relevant collaborative practice insights. The bill defines "specialty" for both NPs and physicians as an area of study leading to national certification or board certification, respectively. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law, with the first survey to be developed within 90 days of the effective date.
