This bill modifies the composition and appointment process for the State Board of Pharmacy by removing the previous requirement that the Governor must choose pharmacist board members from a specific list of ten names submitted by the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association. Instead, the bill allows the Governor more flexibility in selecting pharmacist appointees by permitting consideration of recommendations from various sources, including statewide pharmacy organizations, national pharmacy organization state chapters, and other groups or individuals in the state. The bill maintains the existing requirement that five of the six board members must be licensed pharmacists in good standing who have been actively practicing pharmacy in Oklahoma for at least five years, with one public member who is not a pharmacist and has been an Oklahoma resident for at least five years. Board members continue to serve five-year terms, with no person able to serve more than two consecutive terms. The bill will take effect on November 1, 2025, and updates some language, such as replacing "the State of Oklahoma" with "this state" throughout the text.
