This bill amends Oklahoma's wildlife transportation laws by adding a new exception to the existing regulations regarding the shipment and transportation of wildlife. Specifically, the bill allows for the transportation of deceased, intact cervidae (deer-like animals) into the state to a taxidermist who is in good standing with the Secretary of State. The bill also makes a minor technical change by explicitly adding "of Wildlife Conservation" after "Director" in one section. Additionally, the bill clarifies that owners or operators of commercially licensed hunting facilities can transport cervidae between in-state hunt facilities without needing a permit from the Department of Wildlife Conservation. The existing law already allows for various exceptions to wildlife transportation restrictions, such as legally hunted fish and wildlife, processed fish products, and wildlife bred or propagated legally. The penalties for violating the wildlife transportation regulations remain unchanged, with potential fines between $50 and $200 and/or imprisonment in the county jail for 10 to 60 days. The bill is set to become effective on November 1, 2025.
