This bill establishes the State Archives Relocation Task Force within the Department of Accounting and General Services to recommend a new location for the state archives building. The task force will consist of five members: the state archivist (who will chair the task force), the comptroller or their designee, the land administrator or their designee, and two additional members appointed by the governor - one of whom must be a state archivist and the other with expertise in construction or real estate acquisition. The task force is required to submit a comprehensive report to the legislature by twenty days before the 2026 regular session, which must include a recommended location for the new archives building, building requirements, estimated relocation costs (including construction, renovation, and land acquisition expenses), and any other relevant recommendations. The task force will be dissolved on June 30, 2026, after completing its work, and the bill will take effect immediately upon approval.
