This bill addresses the future of the Kalaupapa Settlement, a historically significant area on the island of Molokai that was once a quarantine settlement for people with Hansen's disease (formerly known as leprosy). The bill establishes the Kalaupapa State Historical Area to preserve the peninsula's historical, cultural, and environmental significance, and provides for the transition of the area's management after the last patient residents have passed away.
