This bill amends Hawaii Revised Statutes section 356D-6.7 to expand the areas that can be closed to the public by the Hawaii Public Housing Authority. The bill allows the authority to close any parcel of land it owns, not just housing projects, to the public by posting clear "Closed to the Public - No Trespassing" signs. These signs must be at least two inches high and placed at reasonable intervals (no less than three signs per mile) along the property boundary and at all entrances. Additionally, the bill adds a new provision requiring authority offices and facilities to be closed to the public during non-business hours, with signs indicating closure times. The bill maintains the existing definition of "housing project" which includes public housing, elder housing, and state low-income housing projects. The changes are intended to give the Hawaii Public Housing Authority more control over access to its properties, potentially enhancing security and managing public use of its land and facilities. The bill will take effect immediately upon approval.
